Quick Tips: How to do a Traffic Stop

Set necessary Keybinds

  • You need to set two keybinds in order to do AI Traffic Stops. Navigate to GTA Settings - Keybinds - FiveM and search for the following keybindings:
    • POLICE: ALPR Keybind
    • POLICE: Traffic Stop Keybind
  • Now set those two options to any key you want. Preferably keys that are not used by anything else yet.

Enable Plate Reader (ALPR)

  • Press the key you bound for POLICE: ALPR Keybind, which will enable the Automatic License Plate Reader.
  • Now the car you are driving will always scan the license of the vehicle infront of you and tell you various information about the car/driver.

Initiate Traffic Stop

  • You need to have a reason to stop the vehicle infront of you.
    • The License Plate Reader will tell you if the driver is wanted or if something is wrong with the vehicle.
    • For Example: If the Plate Reader tells you that the driver is CLEAN but the license is EXPIRED, you can proceed to stop the vehicle.
  • To do that, you press the key you set for POLICE: Traffic Stop Keybind and then enable your emergency lights to initiate.
    • The car you stopped, either stops, or starts running from you.

Do the Traffic Stop

  • Your main Traffic Stop menu will be F5 - Police:Tools, which has various options you can use.
    • Ask for ID, Run ID, Bac Test, Warn, Ticket, Detain, Handcuff, Detain in Vehicle, Frisk, Grab, Tow Vehicle, Search Vehicle, Impound Vehicle, Arrest, Release
  • To complete a Traffic Stop, you need to find out what the stopped person has done wrong.
    • You can also pull over cars that are Clean, you don't have to search for Wanted NPC to pull over!

Reasons to Arrest

  • BAC Test Failed
  • Wanted Suspect
  • Possession of Illegal Items
  • Not complying
  • Fleeing

Reasons to Ticket

  • 1+ Unpaid Tickets
  • Fake ID
  • Suspended License
  • Expired Insurance
  • anything else that doesn't look right...

Reasons to Impound

  • BAC Test Failed
  • Fake ID
  • Suspended License
  • Possession of Illegal Items
  • Fleeing

Arresting NPC

  • If any of the #Reasons to Arrest are true, you detain and arrest the suspect:
    • To detain you need to select Detain, and to get them into your vehicle, you select Detain in Vehicle.
    • Now to arrest them, drive to a PD Jail ... , get them out of the car with Detain, Grab, walk as near as you can to the green jail blip, select Grab again and then select Arrest.
